EDUCATION THAT WORKS

SEDA Group (SEDA) is a leading provider of industry based hands-on education. We change students’ lives through an individual approach to learning and focus on developing real skills to prepare students for a successful future. Through our partnerships with peak sporting organisations and elite clubs, students in Years 10, 11 and 12 are provided with industry opportunities they will not find anywhere else.

In 2018, over 145 students are enrolled in SEDA programs in the Northern Territory.

There are four key areas that define our approach:

  • An individual approach for each student through our ‘one teacher’ to ‘one class’ model
  • Learning directly from industry experts
  • Getting outside of the classroom and learning by doing
  • Placing equal importance on the development of key skills and personal attributes with your academic outcomes

Where is SEDA?

Classroom venues

Our classrooms aren’t like those in most secondary schools, we have classrooms at sport, recreation and trade facilities, so students learn by being immersed in their chosen industry.

ANY FURTHER QUESTIONS?

WE CAN ANSWER THEM!

Students travel to the program via public transport. The SEDA program aims to develop students’ independence, confidence and time management skills and independent travel is part of this self-development.
SEDA classes are structured to be delivered in an applied learning setting. Students complete their senior secondary certificate, alongside VET qualifications in the areas of sport and recreation, via a hands-on curriculum. Students’ curriculum includes activities based in the classroom, the workplace and the community.
No, all students leave their current school and attend the SEDA program full-time.
Students are responsible for sourcing their own work placement; however, SEDA will prepare students with key information and skills, and support students through the process of securing a placement. Year 10 students must complete their placement in the sport and recreation industry and Year 11 students may seek placements in other industries (eg. trade, retail) if they choose.
Selection into SEDA’s Sport Development Programs are not dependent on skill and students of all skill levels may apply and participate in the program.
No, instead the program offers students entrance into further education via direct application to TAFEs and universities, including our education partners. Students and parents will receive information and support from SEDA throughout this process.
Students apply online via our online application form here.
