About Us

SEDA College NT is an Independent Senior Secondary School delivering Years 10, 11 and 12 in classroom locations throughout Darwin, Northern Territory.

The College delivers the Northern Territory Certification of Education and Training (NTCET) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) via The SEDA Model using an applied learning approach where hands-on learning happens both inside and outside of the classroom. The College places student interest at the forefront of their senior secondary education, alongside a practical connection to industry, and an individual approach to teaching and learning. Through this applied learning model, students have a deeper connection to their education, resulting in enhanced engagement levels.

The priority for the College is to support young people to complete a Senior Secondary Certificate, complemented by vocational education and training qualifications that support the student’s interests. But the College is not just aiming for students to complete these qualifications, the College is committed to:

  • providing a learning and school environment that is supportive and safe;
  • developing students so they are highly regarded for their skills to work in the industry they enjoy; and
  • developing successful learners who have the capacity to engage in future learning and actively participate in community life.

The goal is for graduates to leave SEDA College NT as mature, resilient, independent, and capable young adults with the ability to both lead and work within teams. The College aims for its students to be well-placed to make informed choices about their next step towards employment or further study.

The SEDA Model

Since 2013, the SEDA model has successfully engaged, educated, and empowered young people in the Northern Territory. Originally introduced to 16 students in Victoria in 2007, the model is now implemented by Independent SEDA Colleges across most states in Australia, with over 3,000 students completing their senior secondary education each year. Our college board has chosen the SEDA model as the cornerstone of our educational philosophy. The key aspects of the SEDA model include:

  • Unique industry opportunities and experiences
  • Teacher/Student/Caregiver Relationship
  • Hands-on learning environment
  • Tailored career plans, work experience and pathway support
  • Supportive & Safe Learning Environment
  • Connection to the Community
