Construction and Trade Program at SEDA College NT
We are excited to announce the launch of the Construction and Trade Program, which will begin in 2026 for Year 11 students. This program aims to transform secondary education and training for future professionals in the construction and trade industries. It will equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their chosen trade and be apprenticeship-ready after school.
Program Overview
SEDA College is partnering with Charles Darwin University (CDU) to provide real-life education and hands-on training in various construction and trade disciplines. The vocational education and training (VET) and Northern Territory Certification of Education (NTCET) curriculum encompasses a wide range of subjects, including:
- Construction: Undertake basic construction projects whilst using carpentry tools, equipment and materials
- Professional Development: Plan and organise work while working effectively and sustainability in the construction industry
- Mathematics: Facilitate measurements, calculations and basic levelling procedures
- WHS: Work health, wellbeing and safety in the construction industry, First Aid and White Card
State-of-the-Art Facilities
The program features state-of-the-art facilities equipped with the latest tools and technologies. Students will have access to CDU’s Trade Centre where real-world projects come to life, allowing them to gain practical experience and develop their skills in a controlled environment.
Specialist Instructors
The program will be led by a team of specialist instructors and teachers who are experts in their respective fields. They bring a wealth of knowledge and practical experience, ensuring students receive high-quality education and mentorship.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the Construction and Trade Program will be well-prepared to further their education in Year 12 and enter the workforce to pursue successful careers in various construction and trade industries post-school. The program also includes career guidance, community projects, and work experiences to help students transition smoothly from school to employment.
