Term 1 | Principal Update
As the Dry Season begins, we're gearing up for an exciting Term 2 at SEDA College. Before we dive into the new term, let's celebrate some notable achievements from Term 1:
- Record College Enrolments: I am delighted to announce that our college enrolment numbers for 2024 have reached an all-time high, a testament to the quality and reputation of our educational programs.
- Expanded Bus Routes: We have extended our reach by adding Palmerston to Marrara and Gardens SEDA bus routes, ensuring greater accessibility and convenience for our students.
- Community Engagement: Our commitment to community outreach was evident as SEDA classes visited 14 primary schools to conduct sport clinics, fostering a love for physical activity and teamwork in younger students.
- First Aid/CPR Courses: I am proud to share that all our students have completed First Aid/CPR courses, equipping them with life-saving skills that will serve them well beyond their time at SEDA College.
- Sporting Success: We emerged victorious in two divisions each for the School Sport Netball and 3 x 3 Basketball competitions, showcasing our skills and sportsmanship. Congratulations to those students involved.
- Eels Cup Triumph: It was a moment of pride as our boys clinched victory and our girls secured the runners-up position in the Eels Cup curtain raiser games, setting the stage for thrilling NRL action.
I would also like to thank and acknowledge the 85 parents/carers that completed our Semester 1 Parent Survey. The feedback we receive from these surveys will and has helped drive positive change within our College.
As we transition into Term 2, traditionally our busiest term for extracurricular activities, the phrase "make hay while the sun shines" resonates with us all. It promises to be filled with excitement as most classes embark on camps, and students participate in events such as the SEDA National Indigenous Camp and the Timor-Leste Cultural Immersion Trip. We are also looking forward to our Inaugural College Athletics Day and the SEDA Men's Health Week lunch and Golf Day event. Term 2 will culminate in the celebration and launch of our SEDA College NT Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) on the 19th of June, reaffirming our commitment to reconciliation and inclusivity.
Thank you to our dedicated students, supportive caregivers, and committed staff for your ongoing contributions to our college community. With your collective efforts, I have no doubt that we will make Term 2 a resounding success.
Warm regards,
Francis Gill
